Edited by Bill and Anne Wardle(nee Hawkins)this site attempts to record most of
the information collected during our researches in the last twenty years. Plus
ongoing information being continually supplied by friends and relations connected to
the site.
A Special mention is due to John Mellors, a very dear friend and cousin whom I
first met back in 1990. He was in Hong Kong at that time and since lived in
Australia, but now resides in Bucks UK. He is indeed a native of Arnold Notts, and
visits regularly. John has taken on the unenviable task of checking and adding to the
Hartshorn Masterfile which is a merger of all gedcoms of various branches of our
large family.
I will use the space below to try and provide a commentary on what I have added
to the site since the last update. Hopefully each month.

During the summer Anne and I have been busy processing material collected from Arnold
Library. This includes a Health Report of 1853 concerning living conditions of our
ancestors. The details are to be found in "Why the need to emmigrate" see Links below.
Also we have been working on the 1791 Inclosure map and Index, which show how the
land around Arnold was allotted & fenced. The copies of the original map were almost
illegible due to staining and also annotations being written every which way. I hope
to put this map (very large) on our other site Hartshorns Of Arnold soon.
In December 09 I wondered whether it would be possible to download the story "From
Chickens to Prospecting" from the "Hartshorn of Arnold" site. The answer is, It is
possible. Just click "select all" from the menu then "Copy" then paste into a Word
document. I use MS Word 2003 and it worked perfectly. some deletions were necessary
Rootsweb labels and so on but I was left with a very readable document. If anyone
tries it and has trouble please let me know.
